Book on WhatsAppStruma rafting is the classic white water day trip from Sofia: about three hours on the river in the Kresna Gorge, 90 minutes south of the city. You paddle a raft with a qualified instructor through a long run of rapids, about 12 km in spring and 8 km in summer, and you need neither experience nor the ability to swim. It costs €40 per person with all the gear, from two people, every day from March to October. We book it, send you the meeting point and can drive you there and back.

From March to July the river is at its spring level: the water is higher, the rapids are faster and the route runs for about 12 km. From August to October the level drops, the route is about 8 km and it is warm enough that most people raft in swimwear under the gear. Both are real white water rafting in Bulgaria, with a qualified instructor in every raft, and neither needs any experience.
The €40 covers everything you need on the river. You get a wetsuit, neoprene shoes, a helmet, a splash jacket and a life jacket, and you can bring your own gear if you prefer. Before you set off, the instructor gives a safety briefing, and after the run a vehicle takes the group back to the start, where there are changing rooms, warm outdoor showers, lockers and guarded parking. Insurance for the descent is included too.

The rafting starts on the Struma river in the Kresna Gorge, about 90 minutes south of Sofia by car. We send you the exact meeting point when we confirm your booking. There is parking on site, or we can pick you up from your hotel in Sofia and bring you back.
