The adventure begins at the rafting centre near Simitli, where you gear up and board the transport to the canyon entrance near the village of Vlahi. From there, it's on foot into one of Bulgaria's most dramatic gorges — rock walls rising on both sides, cold water rushing beneath your feet, and a series of natural slides, jumps, and pools waiting ahead.

This isn't a guided walk — it's a full water adventure. Slide down smooth rock channels carved by centuries of flowing water, wade through narrow passages, leap from ledges into deep emerald pools, and cool off under natural waterfalls. Every step of the canyon reveals something new. The whole route takes 3 to 4 hours of pure immersion in nature.

A qualified canyoning instructor leads the entire route, with a full safety briefing before you enter the canyon. All equipment — neoprene suit, shoes, helmet, jacket, and life jacket — is provided at the rafting centre. Transfer from the centre to the canyon start point and back is included. Just bring a swimsuit, T-shirt, and a towel.

Do I need any experience?
None at all. The route is suitable for complete beginners and children accompanied by adults. Your instructor guides you through every step.
What should I bring?
Just a swimsuit, a T-shirt, and a towel. All technical equipment is provided at the rafting centre before the tour.
Is it suitable for children?
Yes — children are welcome when accompanied by an adult. Contact us to confirm suitability for younger participants.
What is the minimum group size?
6 participants minimum. Travelling as a smaller group? No problem — we can include you in a shared group session. Contact us to check availability.
Can I combine canyoning with rafting?
Yes — the Vlahi canyoning can be combined with rafting on the Struma River for a full day of outdoor adventure. Ask us about the combo package.
How far in advance do I need to book?
At least 1 day in advance, before 14:00. The season runs June through October only.

GPS: 41.847986, 23.141863 — next to the gas station, a few km after Simitli. Approximately 90 minutes from Sofia by car.

What to expect: Your Adventure Timeline

Meet at the Rafting Centre

Arrive near Simitli at the agreed time. Gear up at the centre — neoprene suit, helmet, life jacket — and meet your instructor for the safety briefing.

Transfer to the Canyon

A short drive brings you to the village of Vlahi and the start of the canyon trail. The gorge opens up ahead — cold water, smooth rock, and the sound of rushing waterfalls.

Into the Gorge

Slide, wade, jump. Natural rock channels, deep pools, hidden waterfalls — 3 to 4 hours of pure canyon immersion. This is the part you'll be talking about on the drive home.

Back to the Centre

Transfer back to the rafting centre. Change, dry off, and decide whether to add a rafting session on the Struma before the drive back to Sofia.
