Motor Paragliding Sofia: Tandem Flight over the Iskar Gorge

Motor paragliding near Sofia is the easiest way to see the city's mountains from the air. You sit beside a licensed pilot in an open trike under a paraglider wing, and the engine lifts you off a small airfield about 30 minutes north of Sofia for 7 to 12 minutes over the hills and the Iskar Gorge. No experience is needed, the pilot does all the flying. A tandem flight costs €70, and you can also choose a motor hang glider for the same price.

Motor paraglider or motor hang glider?

Both are tandem flights with a pilot from the same airfield, and both cost €70. In the motor paraglider you sit side by side with your pilot in a small trike, with the engine behind you and a soft fabric wing above. It climbs slowly and feels open and calm. The motor hang glider flies under a rigid delta wing with a control bar, so it feels a little more like a small aircraft. The hang glider also takes younger flyers, from 8 with a parent.

Early morning in the air

Flights run early in the morning, when the air is at its calmest, and we confirm your exact time when we book you in. After a short briefing and a helmet check, the pilot takes off and flies you over the hills north of Sofia, with views towards the Iskar Gorge and the Balkan range. The pilot chooses the route on the day according to the wind.

Paramotor, gyrocopter or plane?
