The Golden Apple and the Dragon is a family escape room in Sofia by 3KEY Rooms, built around a Bulgarian folk tale that children here grow up with. You find yourselves in an old village house from the Bulgarian Revival, among household things you would normally only see in a museum, and your team has 60 minutes to face the dragon and save the golden apple. The room takes 2 to 8 players, so a whole family or group of friends can play together. A team of two pays €60, and from three players it is €25 per person.
Check times on WhatsAppThe story comes from a folk tale Bulgarian families have told by the fire for centuries: a golden apple, a dragon and a hero brave enough to face him. 3KEY turned it into a Bulgarian fairy tale escape room set in a Revival era village house, with old wooden furniture, woven rugs and odd household objects that hide the clues. The riddles test your eyes, your hands and your wits, and the game is non linear, so several people can work on different puzzles at the same time.
For visitors it is an easy and fun way into Bulgarian folklore, and you do not need to know the tale to play. There are no actors and nothing scary, the room is always lit and you can leave at any time. It was nominated for TERPECA in 2025, about a month after it opened, a ranking voted by players who have done more than 200 escape rooms.
3KEY recommends this room for families with children, and it works as an escape room for kids in Sofia when they play with their parents: children from 10, and younger ones with adults if you ask us first. With room for eight in one team, it is also an escape room for 8 people for friends, colleagues and birthday groups.
