The Seven Rila Lakes sit above 2,000 metres in the Rila Mountains — glacial lakes named for their shapes: The Tear, The Eye, The Kidney, The Twin, The Trefoil, The Fish Lake, The Lower Lake. On a clear day the water mirrors the sky so precisely that the horizon disappears. Most people reach them after a 2–3 hour hike or a chairlift ride. You reach them in a gyrocopter. The flight takes off from Novi Iskar and passes through Pernik, Dolna Dikanya, and Galabovtsi before reaching the lakes.
