Both altitudes give you the full tandem experience — briefing, aircraft, freefall, canopy, landing. The difference is time in freefall. At 3,000 m you get around 30 seconds. At 4,000 m you get 60 seconds — double the freefall, at speeds up to 240 km/h, with more time to actually feel what's happening. The instructors at Skydive Bulgaria consistently recommend 4,000 m. If you're going to do this once, do it properly.

🏆 Bulgaria's Largest Dropzone
Skydive Bulgaria operates at Ihtiman Airport — 50 km east of Sofia, with direct access from the Trakia Motorway. The dropzone covers 50 decares, has two dedicated landing zones, and a 585-metre runway. It is a USPA member (United States Parachute Association), the largest parachute association in the world — meaning equipment, instructors, and procedures meet the highest international standards. The aircraft is a Cessna 206, specially equipped for skydiving, climbing to altitude in just 12 minutes.

The aircraft takes up to 3 tandem pairs per flight, with flights departing approximately every 20 minutes. Larger groups can jump the same day with advance scheduling — message us with your group size and we'll coordinate the timing. Do I need any experience or training?
None. In a tandem jump, you are harnessed to a professional instructor who controls every aspect of the jump — the exit, the freefall, the parachute deployment, and the landing. You receive a brief safety briefing before boarding the aircraft. That's all you need.
Which altitude should I choose?
The instructors consistently recommend 4,000 m. At 3,000 m you get around 30 seconds of freefall. At 4,000 m you get 60 seconds at speeds up to 240 km/h — double the time to actually experience what freefall feels like. The price difference is €50. If you're doing this once, go to 4,000 m.
Should I get the video?
Most people who skip it regret it. This is a once-in-a-lifetime experience and the footage — whether handheld or external cameraman — captures something you can't recreate. We recommend booking the video when you reserve, not trying to add it on the day.
What if the weather is bad?
Jumps depend on weather conditions. The dropzone monitors forecasts continuously and will contact you the afternoon before your jump if conditions require rescheduling. If they cancel due to weather, you'll be offered a new date at no extra cost.
Can I upgrade on the day?
Yes — if you booked 3,000 m and decide on the day you want 4,000 m, or want to add video, you can do so on site subject to availability. Just ask when you arrive.
I wear glasses/contact lenses — can I jump?
Yes. Protective goggles are provided for all jumpers and fit over glasses.
Can I cancel or reschedule?
Rescheduling is possible up to 24 hours before your jump. Changes or cancellations within 24 hours, and no-shows, are non-refundable. If you need to reschedule, contact us as early as possible and we'll arrange an alternative date.
