Drive it yourself or sail with a skipper?

There are two ways to get out on Iskar Reservoir with us. The motorboat is for people who want to drive: after a short briefing the boat is yours, and you choose the route, the speed and where to stop for photos. The yacht trips are the opposite, a skipper sails while you sit back, and they suit couples, hen and stag parties and bigger groups. If there are more than four of you, ask us about a second boat or a yacht.

Good to know before you go

The driver has to be 18 or over, and children can come along with an adult. The staff do not hand over a boat to anyone who seems to have been drinking, so keep the drinks for later. By the water there is a beach with sunbeds and a place to grab a burger, and dogs are welcome. Bring sun cream, a hat and a light layer, because the wind on the reservoir can feel cooler than in Sofia. Want more than the motorboat? Ask us about other water activities at the reservoir.

How much does boat rental on Iskar Dam cost?+
€60 per boat for 1 hour. The boat takes up to 4 people, so for four friends it is €15 each. Fuel and the briefing are included. If you want it for longer than an hour, ask us.
Do I need a licence to drive the motorboat?+
No. You get a short briefing before you go out and then you drive the boat yourself. The driver must be 18 or over.
Can I rent a boat near Sofia without a skipper?+
Yes, that is exactly what this is: a self-drive motorboat on Iskar Reservoir, about 45 minutes from the city. If you would rather have someone else sail, have a look at our yacht trips on the same reservoir.
How many people fit in the boat?+

It works for both. Small groups of friends use it for a fast hour on the water before lunch on the beach, and families like it because the children ride along while a parent drives.

How do I pay?+
Checking a date is free. Once we confirm, you pay the full price by card through a secure link.
Can I cancel, and what if the weather is bad?+
Cancel at least 48 hours before for a full refund. Later cancellations and no-shows are not refunded. If the weather is not safe for the boat, you choose a new date or a full refund.
How do we get there?+
Drive about 45 minutes from Sofia, there is parking on site. Or ask us for a transfer from your hotel: by car, there and back, €60 for up to 3 people, €120 up to 6, €200 up to 10 and €300 up to 19, paid in cash to the driver.
Can I give a boat trip as a gift?+
Yes. Message us and we arrange the date with the people you are treating. Our gifts have no expiry date.
Does the SoFun Card give a discount?+
Yes, 10%: the boat is €54 instead of €60. It does not apply to the transfer.
