Lying by the water is nice. Flying above it is something else entirely. At Iskar Dam, just over an hour from Sofia, you can strap on a flyboard or a jetpack and launch yourself up to 18 meters above the water's surface — powered by high-pressure water jets from below, with an instructor coaching you from a nearby boat. No experience required. Most people are airborne within minutes. The flyboard straps to your feet. A powerful water thrust system connects via a long hose to a jet ski below — the water pressure lifts you straight up. You control direction and height with your feet, leaning forward to move, straightening up to rise. At 10 meters above the surface the view across Iskar Dam is genuinely spectacular. For those who want more: the dolphin dive — dropping head-first into the water and launching back up — is achievable in a single 15-minute session.

The jetpack sits on your back rather than your feet — the same water thrust principle, a different kind of control. At 18 meters it's the highest of the two options, and many riders find it more stable and easier to hold a position. If you're unsure which to choose, the jetpack is the better starting point for complete beginners. Both options are available at the same price and the instructor will advise you on site.

Flyboard or jetpack — which should I choose?
For first-timers, the jetpack is easier to control and reaches greater height. The flyboard takes slightly more balance but allows for more dynamic movements like dolphin dives and spins. Both are at the same price. The instructor can advise you on arrival based on your comfort level.
Do I need to know how to swim?
Basic water confidence is recommended — you will fall in at some point and that's completely normal and part of the experience. A life jacket is worn throughout, so you will float regardless. Mention any concerns when booking.
When is it available?
Weekends only, June through September. Book at least 2 days in advance before 14:00. We confirm bookings through SoFun on WhatsApp or Viber.
Can I combine flyboard and waterjet on the same day?
Yes — both activities run at the same location at Iskar Dam. Mention when booking through SoFun that you'd like to combine, and we'll coordinate timing so you can do both in one trip.
What is the minimum age?
16 years minimum. Riders under 18 require written parental consent. Mention age details when booking through SoFun.

Drive or Transfer to the Dam

About 1 hour from Sofia by car — free parking on site. Or book a private transfer from your hotel through SoFun and arrive with no logistics to think about.

Safety Briefing & Gear Up

Your instructor explains how the equipment works, what to expect on the water, and basic safety rules. Helmet, gloves and life jacket fitted. Questions answered before you enter the water.

Flyboard up to 10m or jetpack up to 18m. First minute learning to balance, next few minutes gaining confidence, final minutes attempting tricks. The instructor coaches from a nearby boat throughout.
